Watertown was one of the first English settlements of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Watertown’s Arsenal stored (and eventually manufactured) military armaments from the early 1800s until 1968. Now referred to as Arsenal Yards, the site is a massive redevelopment project which encompasses shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and condo units. Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown is the first “garden” burial ground in the United States functioning as an arboretum, and is the largest public space in the city. Watertown is conveniently located along two main thoroughfares to Boston, I-90 and Soldiers Field Road.
